Meeting in Kaunas for INNOLEA Project
The 4th scheduled meeting of the partners of the "INNOLEA - Innovation for the Leather Industry in Jordan and Egypt" project was held in Kaunas, Lithuania, on June 6-8 2019.
The organization and reception of the partners was done by KTU, Kaunas Technology University, at the premises of the university in Kaunas. Participation in the conference was extremely enlightening and set out horizons for future actions that can be undertaken in the field of leather by the partnership.
The project meeting was at the heart of the project's progress, namely the completion of the educational activities carried out in the European countries of the project and the planning of the setting up of the leather centres in Egypt and Jordan.
The INNOLEA project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Capacity Building for Higher Education (ERASMUS + CBHE 585822-EPP-1-2017-1-EN-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP). The aim of the program is to modernize Jordanian and Egyptian leather industries by creating four leather centers at local universities to provide quality services, certification, education, fashion information, production organization, financing, and more.
The consortium comprises 12 partners, including seven Universities, two research institutes, two companies and a business association, located in seven countries, both inside and outside the EU area. The National Technical University of Athens (Greece) is the coordinator of the project, supporting the partnership of Universities from Jordan (Jordan University of Science and Technology, Al-Balqa University) and Egypt (South Valley University and Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport), the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Universities from Europe (UPB, Romania and KTU, Lithuania), research centres from Portugal (CTIC) and Romania (INCDTP-ICPI), and companies from Italy (CIAPE) and Greece (CRETHIDEV). The project is due to be completed in October 2020.
